What cable and connector s do you use to connect the monitor and the Air? Can you give any specific instructions on how to create my own color profile with the ColorSync utility?
The reds are looking much truer. Oct 23, 1: As I’ve already stated, it is not a colour calibration issue, nor did I dwll any issues with OS X switching colour profiles back to default behind my back.

I was running a Dell U monitor from that display port connection. And I assume you are trying “extended” and not “mirrored” mode. Similar with deol sidemenu and metaboxes in the admin area.
I think you are using the wrong adapter. I have sent this to Apple. You can verify this if you navigate the settings menu on the monitor.
Any advice is welcome. However, you can try to adjust the settings in ‘Color Settings’ section to make it better. Worked great with This containing box is invisible on the Dell monitor but visible on the macbook screen. And now, all of a sudden, the System Preferences menu is offering me x, and at that resolution it’s even better.

U241 In response to C. The resolution says it’s x I just recently purchased a new 15″ MacBook Pro; non-retina though. I have reported this issue to Apple, since I think that should be unnecessary; please be a squeaky wheel and do the same.
